KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Sarawak E-Sports Association (SESA) is looking to focus more on healthy gaming.
SESA president Afiq Fadhli Narawi said this is to ensure the youths actively participating in e-Sports have balance.
He said with healthy gaming, services by professionals like psychiatrists would consult and advise e-Sports athletes.
“It is common for parents or guardians to be concerned when seeing their children are always gaming. As such, they would control their children and limit the duration of gaming.
“This is why we want to practice healthy gaming so that there is a healthy balance,” he said during the PUBG Mobile e-Sports competition at D’Virtual Park here on Saturday (March 12).
At the same time, Afiq advised youths who are into e-Sports to think and plan whether they would want to pursue it as a professional, an athlete or just for the pool prize money.
In saying this, he pointed out that those who are serious about becoming a professional or an athlete must possess a high level of discipline and direction.
“For the upcoming Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Hanoi, three of the e-Sports athletes are Sarawakians hailing from Miri, Gedong and Batu Kawa. In fact, Malaysia’s e-Sports team manager is also a fellow Sarawakian.
“These players and the team manager can be role models to those who aspire to become professionals,” he said.
Also present were Tanjung Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan, Serba Dinamik Sdn Bhd Kuching branch group manager Muliawadi Imran and Serba Dinamik IT Solution general manager Abdul Qaiyum Alidin.
