“The blaze today (Aug 7) is worse due to the winds last night. We have detected three hotspots, namely, near Hamidah Complex in Permyjaya, Kuala Baram and Tudan,” he said.

Miri firefighters assisted by Naim Group of Companies fire-fighting team have been mobilised to put out the blaze.

“Our team has been dispatched to the Hamidah Complex and Miri Industrial Training Institute (ILP),” said Law.

For the past three days, since the peat fires broke out, nearly 300 acres of land were reportedly razed.

Firemen have been trying to put out a few of the fires, and efforts have been stepped up to stop them from spreading further.
