Strongwoman Husnul gets RM10,000 sponsorship from SSC

KUCHING: The State Government through the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) presented RM10,000 sponsorship to iron woman Husnul Khatimah Wajidi for her to participate in the Static Monsters Worldwide Championship in Gold Coast, Australia on May 20.

Husnul, a 39-year-old mother will represent Sarawak and Malaysia and she is the country’s sole participant qualified for the championship and she will be competing with 375 iron women athletes from 25 countries.

The gift symbolises the support of the State Government to Husnul who not only represents Sarawak but also represents Malaysia, said Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.

“We hope her (Husnul’s) participation in the Championship will give inspiration to the women out there to achieve their dream,” Fatimah said when receiving a courtesy call from Husnul at her office at Baitulmakmur, Petra Jaya here yesterday.

Husnul will depart for Gold Coast, Australia on May 18 together with her personal coach from Singapore.

She will compete in two events namely Axle Deadlift and Long Press for 72 kilogramme category and below. Husnul’s target is to surpass her personal record, namely 180 kilogramme for Axle Deadlift and 60 kilogramme for Long Press event.

Also present with Husnul during the courtesy call yesterday were Assistant Principal Secretary of MTACYS Zul Usup, Head of Development and Maintenance of SSC Gordon Hon, SSC Youth and Sports Officer Abdul Mutalib Mohamad as well as KWKPK Administrative Officer Matthew Chin Ciong Choi.
