KUCHING: A Kuching Polytechnic student died at the Sarawak General Hospital at 6.40pm on Sunday after ramming his motorcycle into a car.
Raja Faruq Ammirul Raja Abdul Manap, 19, from Mile 9 1/2, Jalan Penrissen was heading towards Kuching Polytechnic from Jalan Telaga Air, Matang when the mishap happened at 5.30pm.
Raja Faruq, who was flung far from his motorcycle, sustained injuries on his head and all over his body.
Passers-by stopped to carry him to the side of the road before calling for an ambulance.
He was rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital but died about an hour later.
The car driver, a 30-year-old male teacher from Sg Maong Police Flat, escaped unhurt.
Sarawak Head of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement, Superintendent Alexson Chabu Naga said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1987.
