Student killed in motorcycle collision

PADAWAN: A 13-year-old motorcyclist died from severe injuries after colliding with another motorcycle along Jalan Kampung Tematu on Wednesday.

Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad in a statement, said the fatal accident happened around 8 pm.

“The collision occurred when the victim suddenly made a U-turn and collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

“As a result, the victim identified as Emanuel Enchang Edwin sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead by paramedics from Kota Sentosa health clinic,” he said.

The victim’s body was then taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for post-mortem examinations.

Meanwhile, the other victim, a 16-year-old, is currently warded at SGH for further treatment.

Abang Zainal stated that the case is still being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police are appealing for any witness to come forward and assist in the investigation.
