SIBU: A total of 80 students from eight secondary schools here attended the Program Cemerlang Akademik (POCEM) Bahasa Iban Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) at Dewan Wawasan SMK Sungai Merah recently.

The participating students were from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Luar Bandar Sibu, SMK Sungai Merah, SMK Rosli Dhoby, SMK Bukit Assek, SMK Durin, SMK Bawang Assan, SMK Sibu Jaya and SMK Jalan Oya.

The programme was organised by Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) in collaboration with the Sibu District Education Office (PPD) Iban Language Resource Pool.

It aimed at preparing the students for the upcoming SPM examination.

The programme also aimed to provide exposure and guidance to students to use the correct and appropriate techniques based on the format when answering SPM exam questions as well as to improve their performance and strengthen their level of mastering the Iban language.

A representative of SDNU Sibu branch, Johnady Janton said the association hoped similar collaborations would be held to enable students master the Iban language.
