KUCHING: Over 110 students recently participated in a workshop in conjunction with World Architecture Day 2022.

Organised by the Sarawak chapter of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAMSC), it was supported by Kuching South City Council (MBKS), Sarawak Creative Art and Cultural Association and Free and Easy Chinese Calligraphy Association.

The one-day event was held at MBKS auditorium and Palmeria Park.

MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the activities included bamboo crafting workshop, moon pavilion and new norm park visiting, bamboo design lectures and briefing.

“The workshop was participated by students across five universities, namely Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Kolej Laila Taib, and University of Technology Sarawak (UTS).

“The participants had to construct partially the bamboo Moon Pavilion in conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration and World Architecture Day in October,” he said yesterday (Sept 6).

Wee said the design of the Moon Pavilion was by Intodesign Lab which was constructed by the Puncak Borneo community.

“It will remain on site for more than six months and serve as a backdrop for lectures, mini concert, and night movie screenings in the park,” he added.
