KUCHING: Early exposure and education on venturing into the business field will develop a strong entrepreneurial culture.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said knowledge on business management needs to be instilled in every entrepreneur so that their business remains resilient when faced with challenges.

“Therefore, with the involvement of the students in this Youth Entrepreneurs Programme (PUM), I believe they would be able to gain exposure while instilling interest in business and applying entrepreneurial values within them,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the PUM22 at Politeknik Kuching on Today (Sept 10).

He said the organisation of PUM22 is a proactive step by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) to cooperate with Higher Education Institutes (IPT) across the country to cultivate potential students and get them involved in the field of entrepreneurship and business which can further contribute to the development of the country’s economy in future.

“The ability of a business to adapt to any challenge in the future is very important to ensure the business remains competitive in the domestic market as well as the international market,” he said.

Moreover, he said, through the said programme, SSM will provide related information to the students on procedures and legislation regarding business registration.

“With that, students will be able to learn methods and benefits of registering a business while obtaining knowledge on business strategy and financial management as well as digital marketing.

“With the programme, it is my great hope that the students here will be able to take advantage of it and consider entrepreneurship as a career option,” he said.

In light of this, Nanta announced that the Entrepreneur Club of Politeknik Kuching will be receiving RM10,000 as a token to ignite an aspiration among students to be entrepreneurs.
