KUCHING: Police are investigating an alleged bullying incident after a video that went viral on social media recently showed a group of teenagers assaulting and kicking a teenage boy.

District police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Din Awang Gani said that the six attackers in the video have been identified.

He said two of the boys were detained and that efforts to locate the remaining suspects are still ongoing.

“Police are urging them to surrender immediately, and anyone who knows them can also provide information to the police.”

The alleged victim in the viral video has been identified as a 14-year-old boy and the incident was believed to have occurred behind a hotel along Jalan McDougall at 8am on Aug 27.

“All seven individuals including the victim are students of a renowned secondary school in Kuching,” he said, adding the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting.

“Our investigations revealed that the incident ensued after the suspects got angry with the victim alleging that he (victim) had stolen an e-cigarette device belonging to one of the suspects.
