UCHING: Safety aspects are equally important in a children’s home as they could possibly cause a fire or an accident if not taught well on safety matters.

Kuching Baiturrahmah Welfare Organisation president Salleh Hamden said this when met by reporters after a State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) ‘Kunjungan Kasih’ event held at their centre in Petra Jaya last Saturday.

The one-day ‘gotong royong’ event aims to foster cooperation with non-governmental organisations (NGOs), nurturing a caring attitude for the needy as well as educating the participants about fire safety precautions.

He noted that safety aspects are important especially in a children’s home because they are very active when playing or taking part in an activity.

“Sometimes when they are very active, they can cause a fire or an accident if they are clumsy.

“With such programme organised by Bomba, we hope that our students are now exposed to fire prevention methods, and how to save one’s self,” he said.

Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Naili. Khirudin presented two fire extinguishers, a smoke detector, fire safety guideline, and a mini fire hydrant to thecentre.
