KUCHING: A sex education awareness and advocacy programme was held at SMK Matang Hilir here, yesterday. Organised by the Social Development Council in collaboration with the Kuching Resident Office, the event was attended by some 250 participants comprising students and teachers of SMK Matang Hilir.
Due to the increasing number of pregnancies among teenagers, the event aimed to raise awareness and advocacy for prevention of pregnancy among teenagers while preventing teenagers or students from engaging in extramarital sex.
The event also aimed to empower teenagers on sex education. Meanwhile, the programme received the cooperation of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), state Prison Department, Welfare Department, Sarawak Population Development and Family Board (LPPKS), Kuching Health Office as well as education-related agencies who participated in the exhibition throughout the event.
