KOTA SAMARAHAN: University students here want better internet facilities to reflect Kota Samarahan’s status as ‘Desa Ilmu’ and ‘Medan Universiti’.

Elisha Sarah, 20, a student at the UiTM campus here said the 3G network that is available has been a ‘struggle’ for them to catch up with their studies.

“We want better telecommunication facilities, hopefully with 5G network,” she said.

Cornelia Joseph, 20, also a student of UiTM from Sabah, shared the same opinion.

“Although there are shopping malls and supermarkets for students to shop, sometimes we still need to go to Kuching city as some items that we need are only available in Kuching.

“Besides that, some areas in Kota Samarahan aren’t mobile service friendly. There are still telecommunication errors around here,” she said.

Muhammad Razziq, 24, a student at Unimas said as a local, he has witnessed many developments taking place in Samarahan.

“I hope that the urban management would be planned thoroughly to decrease the traffic problem — a well-known issue in Kota Samarahan,” he said.

Razziq expressed that Samarahan has the potential to become a major town and eventually progress into a city.

“In order to reach that goal, Samarahan has to undertake several developments that can improve the quality of life of its residents,” he said.
