SEBUYAU: Results from the recent study on sustainable land and natural resource management here conducted by students from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and Roskilde University, Denmark will be submitted to the state government.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) of Unimas, Prof. Dr. Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim said the students stayed here for 12 days to carry out the study.
He added that the students had also made various recommendations for development.
“This programme is the first result of the cooperation with the Kingdom of Denmark,” said Wan Hashim.
“The programme is popular among foreign students,” he told reporters after the closing of the Fieldwork of Master SLUSE Programme here last Sunday.
Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Resources of Unimas, Prof. Dr. Othman Bojo said the collaborative study was held every year in different locations in the state.
“This year, we decided to conduct the fieldwork at Sebuyau. Although the study only lasted 10 days, the data we have obtained can be used by the government for the transformation process,” he said.
According to Othman, Unimas has conducted field studies in Miri, Lundu, Simanggang and several other areas in Sarawak.
“This programme will continue as long as there is demand,” he added.
