KUCHING: With 168 stalls operating in the Ramadan Bazaar at the Stutong Community Market, there is bound to be something for everyone.

According to Minister of Local Government Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, he is very proud to see people of all races and religions come together for these annual month-long bazaars.

“Walking around, I can see that it’s not just for Muslims but non-Muslims as well.

“A lot of councils are doing this, which I’m very happy to see because aside from providing facilities, they are also providing business opportunities for the people to increase their livelihood.

“Some of the things here cannot be found easily and can only be found in Ramadan bazaars,” he said to reporters during a walkabout at the market here yesterday.

Sim, who is also the State Assemblyman for Batu Kawa, hopes that many more councils provide these type of facilities so everyone, regardless of race and religion, can come together and celebrate.
“This reflects the uniqueness of Sarawak whereby we accept each other; it’s truly ‘1Malaysia’ here.

“I always encourage all these activities and I am happy that Kuching City South Council (MBKS) has been doing this for years,” he said.
