BELADIN: Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor has expressed concern over allegations that some people are refusing to go for Covid-19 screening tests.

He said the sudden increase in cases in Beladin was a serious matter.

“Rumours have it that some people are hiding because they want to avoid being quarantined.

“However, the health team is still working to ensure that residents suspected of being in close contacts with positive cases come forward for screening.

“This is because we are worried that if they are left free, the Covid-19 figure could go higher,” he told New Sarawak Tribune, today.

“People should not be selfish. They should be disciplined.

“Don’t be stubborn. If one causes a problem, it will cause everyone problems,” he said.

Razaili also said the meeting on Friday had not decided to implement the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) for Kampung Beladin.

“I understand there are many more parameters that need to be updated. What is certain is the current trend is still showing an increase; the number of residents waiting for the test results is still high.

“However, personally I think the enforcement of Emco is necessary in order to break the chain of transmission, apart from isolating those who are positive for the virus to be treated,” he added.

Razaili urged to all parties to be disciplined, stay at home, reduce movements and follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) ahead of the festive season next week.
