MUKAH: There is no issue over price increase and supply of chicken here, assures the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Mukah branch.

Branch head Salihin Den revealed that based on the prices recorded by the price monitoring officer (PPH) at a few main business premises here, the average price of standard chicken was maintained at RM8.50 per kg.

“Monitoring by PPH and the ministry’s enforcement officers also found that the supply of basic essential items is sufficient and easily available,” he said via WhatsApp on Monday.

He was asked whether the supply of basic essentials was sufficient during the ongoing Ramadan fasting month following an increase in prices in Peninsular Malaysia.

Salihin added that the ministry nationwide was conducting ‘Ops Pantau’ (monitoring operation) until May 12 to ensure sufficient and easily available supplies.

According to him, the targeted locations were Ramadan Bazaar, Hari Raya Bazaar, public market/wet market, hypermarket/supermarket, mini market and retail shops.

He said the operation would focus on supply, price, cheap sale, imitation goods, festive season maximum price scheme (SHMMP) and movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs) Act 342.
