KUCHING: The remote Sungai Asap sub-district is preparing for mass vaccination under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon said the Sungai Asap multipurpose hall has been cleaned and prepared for the sub-district level programme which is expected to be held from March 9 to 11.

“This is subject to change by the Kapit Division Health Office (DHO). The cleaning and preparation work was supervised by the staff of Sungai Asap Health Clinic.

“It was also participated by staff of the Sungai Asap sub-district office and assisted by youth volunteers from Asap Koyan Youth Club (KBAK), Uma Baha youths and Uma Kelap Apau Koyan youths,” he said.

He said this in a Facebook post on Tuesday after monitoring the preparation for the mass vaccination in the sub-district.

“Let us all pray that the national Covid-19 Immunisation Programme is successfully implemented in order to curb the spread of the pandemic.

“On this occasion, I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to all our frontliners who are committed and have sacrificed a lot to keep us all safe during this time.

“Let us continue to pray that God will continue to protect and bless them,” he added.

In the meantime, Chukpai reminded constituents in Murum to cooperate with the authorities by observing the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the transmission of Covid-19,” he said.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin took his first vaccine jab to kick-start a nationwide exercise which aims to provide Covid-19 immunisation for free to the people in Malaysia – locals and foreigners alike.

He received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine shot at the District Health Centre in Precinct 11, Putrajaya which is among the Vaccine Dispensing Centres (PPV) identified for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
