SIBU: Hawkers at the Sungai Merah temporary market have requested that signboards be put up to inform customers of their location.

This was revealed by Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh in a Facebook post yesterday.

According to Ting, the request was made when he visited the temporary market. “One of the hawkers told me that he was not getting any business and asked SMC to put up signboards.”

Ting also shared that the hawkers had to use the toilets in the coffee shops nearby for the time being as the new public toilet is being constructed. “The public toilet will only be ready by the end of July.”

Meanwhile, on the completion of the new Sungai Merah market, he said it would take around 18 months and targeted for opening by December 2023.
