KUCHING: In conjunction with International Women’s Day, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party Public Complaints Bureau (SUPP PCB) gave away flowers to sellers and visitors of Kota Sentosa Market.

Its chief cum Kota Sentosa branch chairman Wilfred Yap together with SUPP members were present at the event.

According to the bureau, the purpose of the visit is to share the significance that women’s rights are fundamental human rights as enshrined by the United Nations.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day SUPP PCB and Kota Sentosa Branch hope that the GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) government is fully aware that the rights for women should not only be limited to giving funding to women associations and opportunities to any individual women.

“But instead, through changing laws and proactive policies to meet the specific targets under the United Nations Millennium Development Goals to reduce poverty, including targets for increased gender equality in education, work, and representation,” it said in a press statement.
