KUCHING: A distraught woman whose house was razed to the ground last Sunday has asked for assistance from SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (SUPP PCB) chief, Wilfred Yap.

She stays with her two sons at Lorong 45A, Jalan Stampin Baru within BDC Resettlement Scheme.

One of her sons receives financial assistance under “e-kasih” from the Welfare Department and the other one does not have a stable employment.

In response, Wilfred Yap together with SUPP Stampin sub-branch members immediately went into action.

The complaints bureau thanked the state Welfare Department for its quick response after being informed about the plight of the family. A team was sent to check on the burnt house and handed over daily necessities to the woman and her children.

An welfare officer is in the process of making her report on the situation for the purpose of getting approval for financial assistance.

While on the subject of poverty, Yap appealed to the federal government to prioritise aid for the hardcore poor to get decent housing and revive the hardcore poor housing programme which had been put on hold.

Anyone requiring assistance can always call the complaints bureau’s mobile number at 016-7797688 or 082-246999, or go direct to SUPP headquarters.
