SIBU: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Dudong Branch has set up its service centre in Sibu Jaya.

Branch chairman Wong Ching Yong said the service centre was needed to better serve the people in the new township which has a population of about 35,000 people.

Speaking to reporters at the newly opened service centre on Sunday, Wong pointed out that a polling station at Thian Hua primary school in Sibu Jaya has about 4,600 voters.

According to him, the polling station has been serving one of the largest number of voters who cast their ballots during elections.

“We also think that Sibu Jaya needs another secondary school badly.

“The present secondary school of SMK Sibu Jaya has more than 2,000 students, which is one of the biggest secondary schools in Sibu.

“l don’t think the present SMK Sibu Jaya is big enough to accommodate more students coming in.

“Thus, the service centre is an important organisation of SUPP Dudong Branch to resolve these issues,” he stressed.
