KUCHING: Perikatan Nasional (PN) should be supporting Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) instead of contesting in the 12th state election, suggested Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

The Senior Works Minister said the upcoming state election was a time for them (PN) to show their support and help GPS as GPS has been supporting PN to stabilise the government at the federal level.

“GPS is doing well in managing the state not only during the Covid-19 pandemic, but also how we handle crises as well as economic stability of the state by helping the people.

“Sarawak is the only state where there is so much allocation provided not only to help in terms of financial aid for the people, but also for the business sectors,” he added.

Having said that, Fadillah hoped that “our friends from Malaya namely the PN and Barisan Nasional (BN) show their support this time to GPS.”

He said this when met by the reporters after conducting a site visit on a new block at SK Rakyat here.

Commenting on a recent statement that PN Sarawak was leaving the seat allocation to the wisdom of both PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, Fadillah reiterated that GPS would field 82 candidates, meaning it would contest in all the state seats.

“I am not sure whether there will be another negotiation on the seats but GPS is already firm in deciding that we will have 82 candidates. In other words, we will be taking all 82 seats in the upcoming state election,” he said.
