KUCHING: Sarawakians have been called upon to continue supporting the good work of Kuching Autistic Association (KAA) so that it can further spread awareness of autism and help more autistic people.

Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, who made the call, pointed out that there are still undetected autistic individuals in the state who need help.

“Sometimes, people may not know the help that is available so we need to reach out to those who are autistic so that they can benefit from KAA’s various programmes,” he said when officiating at the launch of the Autism Art Gallery at KAA Resource and Education Centre here today.

He added that those diagnosed with autism are a special group of people who are very talented as well.

“Although it is difficult for them to express their feelings in words, they can express them very well either through singing or artworks.

“So, it is very important that we continue to educate the public on this,” he said.
