MIRI: Police here arrested a local man for refusing to cooperate with police and attempted to flee from inspection. He was said attempting to escape by driving his lorry against the traffic in Piasau Jaya last Wednesday (Nov 2).
Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the incident happened around 12.30am when a patrol team spotted the man
for behaving suspiciously in the area.
“When the team approached for inspections, the suspect refused to cooperate and had acted to escape by driving his lorry against the traffic thus, causing the police to engage in a high-speed chase with him.
“The suspect was eventually arrested and the lorry he was using, was also seized,” Alexson said.
Further inspections found that the lorry did not have any road tax and the suspect did not have a valid driver’s licence.
He local top cop said the case is being investigated under Section 186/353 of the Penal Code and Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He advised the community to always obey the instructions and cooperate with the police.
