Suspected drug peddler nabbed

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Police arrested a 29-year-old man for alleged possession of drugs believed to be methamphetamine, or syabu and Eramine 5 on Thursday morning (Mar 4).

District police chief DSP Sudirman Kram said the man was detained by Kota Samarahan Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) officers during a vehicle inspection in Kampung Jaie, Sadong Jaya here.

Following the inspection, police found 83 transparent plastic packets containing crystallised materials suspected to be syabu type drugs with a gross weight of 46.13g and nine pills suspected to be Eramine 5 with a gross weight of 2.43g.

The drugs were confiscated and the suspect was taken to Kota Samarahan district police headquarters for further action.

He said the confiscated drugs has an estimated value of RM4,740 and the case is being investigated under Section 39A(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“Initial investigations reveal that the drug are sold in the Sadong Jaya area at a price of RM60 per packet.”

Sudirman added that the suspect had previous criminal records and his urine test showed he was positive for drugs.

“The subject is currently detained in Kota Samarahan district police headquarters lockup to facilitate further investigations,” added Sudirman.
