MIRI: Police detained three suspects some 24 hours after a Honda Civic car was reported stolen from a workshop in Krokop.

District police chief, ACP Hakemal Hawari said the suspects aged 31, 33 and 36 were picked up at two separate locations — in Tudan and a house in Kampung Pulau Melayu during an operation carried out by a team of Miri Criminal Investigation department (CID) between 6.30pm and 7pm on Tuesday (Sept 7).

Police also recovered the car’s engine, three car doors, two seats and a gear box from the suspects’ possession during the raids.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the stolen car had been sent to the workshop by its owner for repair works.

However, when the 43-year-old owner went to the workshop to check up on his car, he was shocked to find that the car was missing.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
