The State Budget 2019 will bring great hope and a brighter future for Sarawakians, especially the rural folks in remote areas.

This is because under the budget, the Sarawak Government has set aside RM6.049 billion or 67 percent of the budget for the development of such areas, said Tellian Assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo in describing the budget.

He was commenting on the State Budget 2019 which was announced by the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting yesterday.
“The RM1,000 one-off incentive for the newborns (which can be withdrawn at the age of 18) can be used to further their study or as capital for doing business.

“Rebuilding and upgrading of dilapidated schools also caught my intention as many schools in my constituency needed to be repaired,” said Yussibnosh.

Meanwhile, Balingian Assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi stated the imposing of the sales tax on petroleum products is a positive move to improve the state revenue.

“Imposing of tax on petroleum products will be the most important step in strengthening our ability and capacity,” he said.

Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Abu Seman Jahwie said the budget depicted the seriousness of the State Government to develop the state.

“For rural development, the State Government has put aside over RM6 billion (development of basic infrastructural projects – roads, water and electric supplies).

“The imposing of tax on petroleum products to improve the state’s revenue is a very great move because the federal allocation is always not enough. The RM1000 special incentive is also a good idea,” said Abu.
