SINGAPORE: Singapore and Sarawak yesterday morning signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pave the way for collaboration in the mobile digital payment platform.
Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg, who is currently leading a state delegation on a two-day working visit to Singapore, witnessed the signing ceremony at a leading hotel, here.
Yesterday afternoon, Abang Johari paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana in Orchard Road and later had a meeting with Singapore Finance Minister, Heng Swee Kiat at his office in High Street.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Singapore Minister In-Charge of Smart Nation, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Sarawak Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing, Sarawak State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohammad Morshidi bin Abdul Ghani and Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore, Datuk Zulkifli Adenan.
Sarawak Multi-Media Authority (SMA) was represented by its general manager, Dr Zaidi Razak and Network for Electronic Transfers (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (Nets) by its group CEO, Jeffrey Goh.
Later, Tan Sri Morshidi led a team comprising key state government officials and SMA board members to attend a briefing at the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry.
The Chief Minister and his delegation arrived here on Sunday to explore possibilities of collaboration with the Singapore government in areas of digital economy.
