KUCHING: Sarawak will benefit from the readily accessible latest technologies via the collaboration between Sarawak Skills (PPKS) and the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation under the Centre of 9 Pillars (CoP9).

“The collaboration will offer a wide range of customised Industry 4.0 solutions to industries in Sarawak.

“It also opens the door of opportunity for our organisations to carry out a wide range of joint activities, such as research, training, and knowledge sharing in automation and digitalisation,” PPKS executive director Hallman Sabri said during the exchange of a memorandum of understanding between Sarawak Skills and MTDC yesterday (April 27) at Sarawak Skills auditorium said.

He said Sarawak Skills would be developed into a research-based training centre to shape industry trends and contribute to Sarawak’s key economic sectors in line with the Sarawak Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).

He said PPKS was conducting a Certified IoT course for unemployed graduates from Sarawak and Sabah, adding that the centre was looking forward to supporting the state government’s objective of PCDS 2030.

Meanwhile, MTDC chief executive officer Datuk Norhalim Yunus in his brief speech said: “When we develop the industry, we will create jobs; when we create jobs, we will develop the economy; when we develop the economy, our businesses will grow; when our businesses grow, they will be able to export; and when we export, it will help to develop our economy.”

Yunus CoP9’s goal was to benefit everyone who collaborated by bringing government agencies together and providing student training in both UPM and PPKS.
