KUCHING: Quick-thinking actions by a staff member at a butcher shop in Tabuan Jaya averted a potential disaster as they swiftly contained a fire that broke out within the premises yesterday evening (Mar 15).
The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the incident occurred at approximately 7.19pm when one of the chillers inside the shop ignited unexpectedly.
Prompt action by one of the staff members who utilised a fire extinguisher helped to swiftly bring the situation under control.
Responding promptly to the scene, firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya station conducted a comprehensive overhaul to eliminate any chance of the fire reigniting, utilising water from their firetruck.
Firefighters successfully concluded the operation by 7.54pm.
