Swift action saved boy from drowning

MIRI: Quick thinking by teenager Muhamad Azrul Adam Mohd Adnan saved a boy from drowning.

The 12-year-old boy found himself being swept away by strong currents at Tanjung Lobang beach.

19-year-old Muhamad Azrul Adam was at the beach and leapt into rescue when he saw the boy crying out for help and waving his arms.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Miri fire station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 5.11pm on Friday (Feb 2).

Upon Bomba’s arrival, the victim had already been saved.

Both the victim and his rescuer were given medical treatment by emergency personnel and were brought to Miri Hospital for further treatment.

Bomba returned to the fire station and the operation ended at 6 pm.
