KUCHING: A fire partially damaged a house in Taman Puteri, Samariang today at 11.20 am

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) has explained that the fire began from a stack of old furniture outside the house and rapidly spread to the structure.

The swift response of nearby residents resulted in the fire being extinguished before firemen from the Petra Jaya and Padungan stations arrived at the scene.

To prevent any potential rekindling, firemen utilised water from their fire engine to thoroughly extinguish any remaining embers.

The house was home to a family of eight, all of whom managed to escape without harm.

The operation concluded at 12.25 pm, with Bomba currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
