BINTULU: A fire in a room at the second floor of a two-storey house was quickly dealt with thanks to the fast reaction of the firemen.

State Fire and Rescue Operation Centre (Bomba) received an emergency call of a fire incident at Lorong 1A, Taman Sibiew Indah at 8.58pm last night.

Firemen from Bintulu Bomba station were dispatched to the location and then commenced extonguishing operation upon arrival.

“The operation commander reported that a room in the second floor of a house was on fire and the room is estimated to sustain damage about 50 per cent.

“Firemen on scene conducted an offensive attack on the fire using two line of hoses and using the water from a nearby fire hydrant,” it said.

The fire was completely extinguished after almost an hour at 9.54pm. Inspection on the room was done to ensure the fire was completely out before returning to the station.

The four occupants of the house are safe during the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
