KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate at the Good Design Week (GDW) 2019 to be held at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus here from July 14 to 17.

The event will bring together the best industry experts, academic, researchers and brightest design students from the university and Curtin University to share the design experience in industry, academia and
education.

Kuching was chosen as it offers a fantastic context to explore design through shared practice, research, education and scholarship.

On the first and second day of GDW 2019, there will be a Good Design Symposium involving industry experts and
academicians.

It will cover activities such as keynote addresses and plenary sessions by government and industry experts; interactions, discussion and review of student exhibition; launching of the 48hr Design JAM (university students) and 24hr
Design JAM (high school students); and a round-table session with the industry and
academic.

The 24hr Design JAM will involve the participation of high school students from the Kuching division with the theme “Knowledge transfer through digitalisation”.

Key features of the exhibition will be the students’ digital and creative works; Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) showcase; as well as sponsors’ booths.
