KUCHING: Swinburne Business School now has joined the ranks of the elite after recently being awarded the AACSB International accreditation, a prestigious recognition by the world’s longest-serving accrediting body for business schools.

The accreditation recognises Swinburne Business School’s excellence in teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning — placing it among the highest quality business schools globally.

Synonymous with the highest standards of quality, the AACSB accreditation has been awarded to only five per cent of the world’s schools offering business degrees at the bachelor level or higher.

In a press statement, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International Stephanie M Bryant congratulated Swinburne and its Dean of Business School Professor Keryn Chalmers on earning the accreditation and applauded the entire Faculty of Business and Law team for their roles in earning this respected honour.

“Swinburne’s commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of their dedication, not only to their students, alumni network and greater business community, but to the higher education industry as a whole,” said Bryant.

Commenting on the award, Chalmers said achieving AACSB accreditation is a great honour that will allow Swinburne’s School of Business to further build on its international reputation.

“It demonstrates our unwavering commitment and strong teamwork to continually improving everything we do in pursuit of our mission — through our domestic offerings as well as internationally and online,” said Professor Chalmers.

She added that the accreditation recognises Swinburne’s strong record of success and validates the university’s focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, social impact and external engagement.

Meanwhile, Swinburne’s Sarawak campus in Kuching is elated with the recognition as the campus shares the success of its mother campus.

For Dean of Faculty of Business, Design and Arts Professor Lee Miin Huui, the requirements for AACSB accreditation are challenging but by completing the rigorous process, the university is further recognised by top employers and other universities.

“With this achievement, we hope to increase our brand awareness at the national and international levels, as well as to attract the best staff and students, and give reassurance of our quality to our alumni and current students,” commented Professor Lee.
