Swinburne logo contest open to all

KUCHING: The public are invited to take part in a logo design contest in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus.

The contest is now open and will end on September 15 with results expected to be announced in November.

The first prize winner will receive RM3,000 while the second and third prize winners will take home RM2,000 and RM1,000, respectively.

Students and staff members of both Swinburne Sarawak and Swinburne Melbourne campuses as well as alumni are also eligible to take part.

In connection with the anniversary celebration next year, the university will organise a series of events and activities throughout 2020.

Swinburne Sarawak first opened its doors in 2000 and was then known as Swinburne Sarawak Institute of Technology.

Jointly owned by the Sarawak government and Swinburne University of Technology of Melbourne, Australia, it started with about 130 students pursuing degree preparatory and vocational courses as well as a limited range of business and engineering courses in certificate,
diploma and degree levels.

Today, Swinburne Sarawak is a fully-fledged university offering diploma, foundation, bachelors, masters and doctoral studies with a strong focus on sustainable research technologies. It has actively grown its research endeavour and works closely with industry on research projects.

Courses at the campus range from business, computing, design, engineering and science as well as English language. Professional bodies accredit many of these courses.

Its current 3,500 students hail from more than 50 countries, making it a truly international university. Of the total student population, 65 percent are from Sarawak, 15 percent from Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, while 20 percent are from abroad.

To date, Swinburne Sarawak has produced about 7,000 graduates who contribute to the growth and development of Sarawak in various sectors and industries.
