KUCHING: Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus held two doodle art workshops on August 6 in conjunction with World Heart Day.

World Heart Day is celebrated annually on September 29.

Forty-two participants took part in the workshops; one was conducted physically from 10 am to noon at Swinburne Sarawak’s newly renovated The Hive Design Studio while the other workshop was held virtually via the Microsoft Teams from 2 pm to 4 pm.

According to a statement yesterday, the largest group of registrants came from Sekolah Seni Malaysia Sarawak, with 15 Form Four and Form Five students signing up for the face-to-face workshop.

Other registrants from various schools included Lodge School, SMK St Mary, SJK Chung Hua No 1 and No 5, SJK(C) Stampin, Green Road Primary School; Tunku Putra School; St Joseph’s Private School, St Joseph’s International School and SMK Jalan Arang.

Associate Dean (External Engagement and Impact) Swinburne Sarawak’s Faculty of Business, Design and Arts Elizabeth Voong said that these workshops aimed to support the university’s initiatives on knowledge transfer to the community in collaboration with SHF.

Meanwhile, Graphic Design lecturer of the School of Design and Arts Swinburne Sarawak Rosedelina Mustapha believed that these workshops would provide a valuable learning experience for students.

“They also encourage students to be more confident in pursuing their passion in art and design,” she said.

Rosedelina was assisted by two talented doodle artists, Helena Goh and Daphaney Wong, during the workshops.

Another graphic design lecturer, Michael Lee also called on all students studying in Sarawak to participate in the Cartoon and Doodle Art Competition.
