KUCHING: Police believed they have smashed a house break-in and vehicle theft syndicate with the arrest of two men and seized three Proton Kancil cars in a raid yesterday.

Police have been monitoring the movements of members of the syndicate who are believed to have cannibalised cars that they stole and sold their parts.

In the 11.45am raid yesterday, police swooped in to Kampung Pulo Hilir and Kampung Pulo Ulu where the two suspects aged 32 and 33 were caught in separate locations.

One of the three cars found being towed to police headquarters.

When police checked three cars in the houses, they found out that one of the cars was partially dismantled. The three cars were later towed back to the police headquarters for further investigation.

Police believed that there were others at large and would not spare those buying stolen properties. Besides stealing cars, police also suspected that they were involved in the theft of telco cables and old batteries in the compound of the house.  Sarawak CID head SAC Dennis Leong confirmed the arrest and said police are still investigating the backgrounds of the two suspects.
