Tabuan FT emerged as winners of the tournament

ASAJAYA: Tabuan FT emerged as the winners of the 56th Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah Asajaya Unity Cup football tournament.

The team from Kuching secured a comfortable 3-1 win over Asajaya’s Tambirat United in the final held at the Kampung Sambir football field here on Sunday (April 21).

Former Kuching City FC striker Iqmal Mustakim Kamrodin showcased exquisite finishing, scoring two goals for Tabuan FT in the 35th and 56th minutes, while Mohd Shahrul Sungunt netted another goal in the 48th minute.

Tambirat FC managed to score a consolation goal through Amirul Nishyam Kamil in the 33rd minute.

The victory saw Tabuan FT receive a cash prize of RM5,000, a trophy, a challenge trophy, medals, jerseys, and Adidas vouchers sponsored by LSC totaling RM1,000.

Meanwhile, Tambirat FC players received a cash prize of RM3,000, a trophy, medals, jerseys and Adidas vouchers worth RM600.

Jass FC 1 and Jass FC 2, who lost in the semi-finals, each received RM300, a trophy and medals as joint third-place teams.

The Best Player of the Match award was presented to Iqmal Mutakim Kamrodin (Tabuan FT) while the Most Goals Scored award went to Mohd  Haiqal Afzhal (Tambirat FC/5 goals). Both players received trophies and Adidas vouchers worth RM100 each.

In the veteran category, Sambir Bistari emerged as champions, receiving a cash prize of RM1,000, along with a trophy and medals, after defeating Rebak FC 3-2. Rebak FC received RM700, a trophy and medals.

Kaslo FC and Muara Tebas, who lost in the semi-finals, each received RM300 in cash, a trophy, and medals as joint third-place winners.

The prize-giving ceremony was officiated by Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister and Asajaya assemblyman, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah. Also in attendance were Asajaya district officer Rais Ahmat; deputy Samarahan Division Resident, Anuar Daan; heads of government departments and community leaders.

Organised by Sambir Bistari Football Club in collaboration with Lea Sports Center as a sponsor, the tournament, which began on the third day of Hari Raya, saw the participation of 50 teams, marking it as the oldest tournament in Sarawak.
