MIRI: Last year, Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) spent some RM30.18mil, helping students from low income groups.

TBS general manager Datu Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie said assistance was given to students to help them during their first month in the institutions of higher learning upon receiving their offer letter.

A total of 16,920 students benefitted from the monetary assistance.

“This year, for the period from January to March, we have disbursed RM5.41mil to 2,650 underprivileged students,” he told the media on Monday (May 8) during TBS’ Raya open house here.

The open house attracted more than 200 people. Also attending was Miri deputy mayor Ariffin Mohamad.
