KUCHING: Taekwondo exponents participated in a belt upgrading test recently. The participants are registered under the Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF) affiliated clubs in Kuching, Samarahan and Lundu divisions. The clubs involved are Taekwondo and Martial Arts Kuching, Taekwondo Country Club and Taekwondo Premier Club.

The two-day test session was conducted by national instructor Grandmaster Tan Check Joon (8th dan black belt holder).  It was organised by the Sarawak State Taekwondo Association (WTF) to improve the performance of athletes under its affiliation.

Tan, who is also the state technical chairman of the Sarawak Taekwondo Association, said it was the third test of the season.

“It is organised by the clubs in Sarawak for this year. It is also being held in Sibu, Miri and Bintulu divisions while Sarikei and Meradong have already held the session last month,” said Tan.

WTF Sarawak is a pioneer affiliated with Taekwondo Malaysia (WTF). The athletes involved in the WTF are eligible to participate in the SEA and Asian Games, and the Olympics.
