Strong quake hits Java, Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR:  A strong earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.5 on the Richter scale hit Java, Indonesia, at 2.12 am Thursday (Feb 6). According to a statement by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the quake occurred 125 kilometres (km) north of Surabaya at a depth of 600 km. However, it did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia. – Bernama
