Taib briefed on Islamic education progress

KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received a courtesy call from a delegation comprising the Sarawak Islamic Education Development Board (LPPIS) and Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) led by the MIS president, Datuk Misnu Taha in Demak Jaya, yesterday morning.

During courtesy visit, Tun Taib was briefed by the chairman of LPPIS, Datuk Dr Adi Badiozaman Tuah on the planning and efforts of LPPIS to achieve a standard co-curriculum or the same level for religious schools under the Malaysian Ministry of Education and religious schools registered under the Sarawak Islamic Council.

LPPIS plays a role in guiding MIS in making decisions and as a planning body for coordinating the development of access, equity, and quality of education for Muslims in Sarawak.

Also present were the director of the Sarawak Department of Islamic Religion, Khalidi Ibrahim and the general manager of Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak, Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie.
