KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received a courtesy call from new State Customs director, Herman Shah Abdullah at his residence in Demak Jaya here on Monday (Nov 2).

Herman, who was appointed on Oct 7, succeeded former State Customs chief Sharifah Halimah Tuanku Taha who retired in mid-September.

Asked on his plans for the Royal Malaysian Customs Department Sarawak, Herman said he would pick up where his predecessor left off.

“There are programmes which have not been implemented yet such as the physical development of the Customs office, housing and other amenities for the officers,” he said.

Herman added there were plans to add more than 100 new members to the Sarawak Customs Department.
