Taib receives visitors from UNIMAS

KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received a courtesy visit from the senior management team of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) led by its vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi at Demak Jaya today.

The purpose of the visit was to invite Taib to attend the 26th UNIMAS Convocation Ceremony from October 31 until November 3.

This 26th convocation ceremony will involve 3,972 graduates from various fields and qualification levels; 3,404 will receive their bachelor’s degrees, 526 people their doctorates and masters and 42 their post-graduate diplomas in higher education. There will be 85 international graduates.

Mohamad Kadim said the number of alumni produced by UNIMAS since the first convocation in 1997 until the 26th convocation in 2022 was 51,986 and they came from 52 countries in the world.

This year, 38 of the graduates, especially holders of the Sarawak Foundation Scholarships, have successfully attended the Medical Programme at UNIMAS in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences since 2017.

Mohamad Kadim added that this was the biggest achievement of UNIMAS after 30 years since its establishment in 1992.
