TAIPING: Taiping Bird Week (TBW), which has been organised since 2017 at Taman Tasik Taiping here, has succeeded in attracting international tourists from various countries, especially bird enthusiasts.

Taiping Zoo and Night Safari (ZTNS) director, Dr Muhamad Ridhwan Affendi said that among the tourists who came to the event were from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, India, and the Middle East.

“Most tourists from Singapore come here during Taiping Bird Week, where bird watching and bird photography are among the tourists’ favourite activities,” he said when met by reporters after officiating at the TBW 2023 on behalf of Taiping Municipal Council president Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir at Taman Tasik Taiping here today.

Muhamad Ridhwan said that one of the bird species that often attracts the attention of visitors is the hooded bird, or its scientific name ‘Hoopoe’, which makes Taman Tasik Taiping here a stopover destination for its breeding process and will return to its country of origin after the end of winter.

TBW, which lasts for a week starting today until Aug 27, provides various activities such as a photo exhibition of bird species in Taiping, bird-related sharing sessions, the Taiping Bird Race, and exhibitions and sales from various agencies.
