Take up agriculture, youth advised

KUCHING: The youths in the Sebuyau constituency are urged to involve themselves in agriculture which sector can provide significant monetary returns.

Infrastructure and Ports Development Assistant Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Sebuyau had implemented agriculture projects to attract youth participation.

“The field of agriculture has a vast potential and can change the lives and the economy of the people if they dedicate themselves to it.

“We want them to plant crops that have market value such as maize, eggplant, pumpkin and others,” he said when met after conducting a visit to the agricultural project site in Sebuyau on Wednesday.

Julaihi who is Sebuyau assemblyman said funds had been allocated to encourage young people to venture into agriculture.

“We want them to turn it into a career as it can guarantee their future while improving the economic sector in their area.

“An allocation of RM3,000 has also been distributed to the villages involved, namely Kampung Masjid, Kampung Hulu Sebuyau, Kampung Baru and Kampung Seberang,” he added.

Meanwhile, PBB Sebuyau Youth chief Osman Jamel thanked the state government for its efforts in helping them to venture into agriculture and hoped that the programme would be carried out successfully.

“I also thank Datuk Julaihi Narawi for his initiative in helping the youths in agriculture.

We will succeed in this agricultural project to stimulate the local economy,” he said.
