KUCHING: Food sales and supply activities will only be allowed for takeaways, drive-thru or delivery services from 6am to 8pm during the movement control order (MCO) enforced in Sibu, Kanowit and Selangau from Jan 16 to 29.

Under the latest MCO standard operating procedure (SOP), all eateries such as restaurants and food stalls are allowed to operate from 6am to 8pm only.

Hospitals, clinics and medical laboratories can operate 24 hours or following the terms of their business licences.

Other businesses that are allowed to operate from 6am to 8pm include grocery stores, convenience stores, pharmacies, shops selling daily necessities, petrol stations, vet clinics, pet stores and laundry services except for self-service launderettes.

Fresh and wet markets can only operate from 6am to 2pm.

Meanwhile, among the economics activities that are not allowed to operate include night market, farmers market, food truck, road side stalls, food courts, hawker centres, kiosk, clothing shops, optical shops, barber and hair salons, spa and reflexology, tuition classes, music, art, dance, religious and languages classes.

Entertainment activities such as night clubs or pubs, theme parks, indoor playground, karaokes, cinemas, live concerts or shows are also disallowed.

Meanwhile meetings among government and private sectors involving representatives from outside can be conducted via video conferencing as face-to-face meetings are not allowed.

All seminars, workshops, courses, trainings, conferences, talks, exhibitions and activities involving Meeting, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) are also disallowed.

Other social activities that are prohibited include official and non-official functions of the government and private sector, social events such as weddings, engagement, receptions, prayers, anniversary, birthday, reunion and retreat.

All sports, leisure and recreation including travelling in and out of the MCO areas are prohibited.

The education sector involving universities, colleges, schools, kindergartens, nurseries, play schools and childcare centres are also not allowed to open.

Any activities involving the presence of many people which makes physical distancing and other compliance to the SOP unable are also prohibited.

Friday prayers in mosques and surau are subjected to the SOP issued by the State Islamic Authority while other religions must comply with guidelines issued by Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).
