Getting married is a milestone in life that comes after being in a relationship with someone you love and know you want to spend the rest of your life with.

To mark the occasion and day when you and your significant other are to be united together as a legally married couple, many brides would plan months – some even years – before the big day so that it would be as memorable and perfect as possible.

Nowadays, the concept of having a wedding isn’t just confined to the regular church weddings or solemnisations indoors. Instead, other creative but just as stunning alternatives are coming up like outdoor weddings. Outdoor weddings could consist of weddings by a beach, at a garden or by a pool – wedding locations which are available at Damai Beach Resort, Santubong.

The resort’s Assistant Director of Sales & Marketing, Kay Supit, said that the outdoor wedding concept order to cater to the people who loves something creative, especially the millennials who are interested to try something different from the usual indoor weddings and receptions.

The resort’s specialty caters to scenic views by the sea, making use of the beautiful natural elements like the mountains, sea and beach.

Depending on what the couple wants, Supit and her team will try their very best to cater to their needs and wants. But one thing is for sure, the resort will provide either a floral or bamboo arch, the latter of which is a specialty for the venue.

The arch would typically be used for the solemnisation during sunset, depending on the couple’s wishes. The ceremony is typically followed by the wedding reception there.

The resort offers two outdoor locations for the reception which are the poolside and the beach.

The poolside can hold up to 600 guests while there is no guest limit for weddings held at the beach. One of the best things about the poolside is that it has the sea as a backdrop and couples would usually opt for the sunset view, overlooking the sea. The resort also has a function room which can cater up to 400 people max.

“Our resort likes to encourage people to mingle with one another during the receptions and we would always suggest the couples to hold their a reception” Supit explained.

With different menus to choose from, the resort offers sets for the Malay style, Chinese style, Canapes style, international buffet and also BBQ. Supit recalled one of the couples have even decided to forgo the traditional wedding reception but opted for hi-tea after their solemnisation instead.

The venue also has a garden located at the chalet compound which is just nice for a quaint and private garden wedding. The location can only cater from 50 to 100 people and it’s just the right number for a cosy themed-wedding.

“There were even those who held a Hawaiian theme wedding at the garden. ” added Supit.

While there may be some concern about the weather here, Supit assured that the resort has backup plans for couples who are holding outdoor weddings at the locations. Although she suggested that the best time to hold outdoor weddings are usually between April to July.

She further mentioned that the resort will be giving special rates for the family members of the couples who choose to stay at the resort, regardless of the number of rooms booked.

The Damai Beach Resort is a chance to be creative with weddings. Maybe try out an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party themed garden wedding with the theme colours of Alice’s dress and a hi-tea after ala Mad Hatter style. Or even an informal Hawaiian Luau style wedding with a BBQ reception.

The possibilities are endless. Now might be a good time to start planning the wedding of your dreams if you are planning on tying-the-knot.
