Talk on ‘Kelulut’ attracts 150 participants

SIBU: A total of 150 people a talk on the potential of ‘Kelulut’ (stingless bee) honey to generate income. Organised by Cooperative College of Malaysia (MKM) Sarawak Zone, the talk was held at Sibu Islamic Complex here, yesterday.

In his closing remarks, Sibu District Officer, Awang Yusof Awang Mostapha said the government encouraged the farming of Kelulut (stingless bee) honey because it could improve and generate income for the people.

“The farming of Kelulut (stingless bee) honey is one of the options for increasing the people’s income as well as the economic sector.

“Thus, I hope that the participants of the today’s talk will make us of the knowledge they gained and put them into practice in that way it would then bring benefit to them,” he said. Awang also hoped that MKM could provide training for the people involved in the farming of Kelulut so that they know how to expand their business.

He also lauded MKM Sarawak Zone for its initiative and noble effort in organising the talk for the benefit of the people. Meanwhile, MKM Sector Head, Mohd Roslan Amin said the talk was an annual event of MKM Sarawak Zone to promote cooperative training throughout this year.

“11 locations have been selected throughout Sarawak and Sibu is the third location after Serian and Lundu where the events were organised successfully last week,” he said.
